Everyone is welcome to come and join us for an evening to share what’s going on in our communities and pray for each other. You don’t have to be living in a community to attend.
Directions:
From 295: take the Pennsylvania Ave East exit and after the gas station take a right at the first stop light onto Minnesota Ave. After you pass through the 2nd stop light we’re on the right on that block so you can park wherever - there’s plenty of parking.
From 395: Take 395 through DC and when it splits between 295 and Penn Ave take the Penn Ave exit(left 3 lanes). After you cross the bridge follow directions from above.
From Penn Ave.: Cross the bridge and follow directions from above.
From metro and or bus: The closest metro stops are Potomac Ave and Anacostia. We can do pick ups from a metro just let us know ahead of time so we can plan for that. You can take the 30s bus to L’Enfant Square(which is at the corner of Minnesota and Pennsylvania). The B2 or U2 buses stop in front of our house.

If you metro, it is very easy walking distance (3-5 mins) from the West Hyattsville metro stop on the Green Line. When you leave the station you will see a Texaco a ways in front of you. Head toward it, crossing Ager Rd. and keep walking that direction on Jamestown Rd (the road to the right of the Texaco). Go three blocks and turn left on 31st Ave. We’re the 4th house on the left.
For drivers: It is near Queens Chapel Road (where it turns into Adelphi) and East-West Highway (410). Looking up the address online will give the best directions.

We are in the Adams Morgan neighborhood. Coming by Metro is easiest and two stations are about a 10 minute walk away.
Driving - Parking can be a challenge here in the evenings, but if you must drive, from 395 you can get on 14th St. heading north and take it a couple miles (through the whole alphabet) to Columbia Rd. NW and turn left. Turn right on Ontario Rd. which is the next light after you pass 16th St. We’re on the left near the end of the block.
Metro Green line - From Columbia Heights station walk south 1 block to Columbia Road and turn right. Walk about 4 blocks to Ontario Rd and turn right. We’re on the left near the end of the block.
Metro Red Line - From Woodley Park, walk south one block to Calvert street and turn left. Go across the bridge and a couple blocks, then turn left on Columbia road, then left on Ontario Road.

Shane Claiborne (author of the Irresistible Revolution) and Chris Haw’s new book “Jesus for President” just came out a few months ago. It’s a book that insightfully seeks to grapple with the question, “How do we navigate our allegiance to state and our allegiance to Christ, especially when they come into conflict?”
I am on the coordinating team that is bringing the authors and some of their colleagues to DC to talk about the book and the topic. I hope you can come and will spread the word to your communities (publicity materials are available at http://www.jesusforpresidentindc.org/publicity)!

Our venue moves again, this time to Southeast DC! Come one, come all, to Fairlawn…hall.
(Okay, so poetry isn’t a strength of mine.)
Anyway, September’s DC Area Community of Communities meeting will NOT be held on the first Monday of the month (being as it’s a legally mandated holiday and all), and so we will be gathering at 7pm on Monday, September 10th. Much to talk about and share and lift up before God. It’ll be grand, and you’ll get to see my new piano, which at least I remain terribly excited about.
The address is 2106 Minnesota Ave SE — the only row house on the street with green shingles.
If you’re coming from Virginia, you’ll want to take I-395 N to the Southeast Freeway (also known as 1-295 S). Exit on Pennsylvania, where you’ll cross the Anacostia River. Just a couple blocks after the river, you turn right at L’Enfant Sq onto Minnesota Ave. It’s a bit of a tricky intersection in that there are multiple right — take the tight, rather than the wide, curve, but also try not to turn into the parking lot. (In terms of landmarks, at that corner there’s a bus stop and the Post Office.) We’re three blocks down on the block right past Orr Elementary School. Our house is on the right side of the street across from a grassy triangle. Parking is abundant and unzoned, so don’t worry on that front. Park wherever you please, though stopping right in the middle of the road may lead to some insurance problems for you.
For those driving from the city, assuming you can find Penn. Ave, pick up the directions there, and you’ll be good.
If you’re taking public transportation, the closest Metros are Anacostia (green line) and Potomac Ave (blue and orange). More than likely, if you’re metroing, you can simply call us and we’ll come and pick you up. But you can also take the B2 from either metro right to our block. Call me for specifics, particularly if you’re coming from Potomac Ave.

The DC Area Community of Communities will be gathering at Casa Chirilagua this month. Lots of exciting things are happening and it will be great seeing everyone and praying with one another. We’ll also spend some time discussing our upcoming retreat in November.
